Academic Support (ASAP) Accommodated Testing through TAC Column 1 The Services for Students with Disabilities office (SSD) is pleased to announce the implementation of Accommodate , a core electronic case management system that will assist students, faculty, instructors, and staff in requesting, approving, and implementing disability-related accommodations. Students Faculty/Staff TRANSITION TO ACCOMMODATE We have made a transition to a new database, Accommodate, that enhances our ability to support our University of Michigan Community. This system takes the place of the VISA Letters that were previously utilized. We have been working to provide some immediate answers to the questions and concerns that have been raised by many faculty regarding individual student accommodations - the initial information we have is below: If a student presents an old VISA letter- please direct the student to complete the Student Initial Information Form so they are updated in the Accommodate System and they can have a new ’Accommodations Letter’ generated, which will be shared to you via e-mail. Accommodation Letters not showing up for instructor -If you are an instructor on record, listed on the course in Accommodate, and can see the student and accommodations on your Accommodate class roster but not the Accommodation Letter, please contact the coordinator to have them resend the letter. This is a known result of an instructor being added after the accommodation letter has been sent. Please honor the accommodations listed on your course roster in Accommodate . Instructors/Course Coordinators not receiving notifications- Accommodate utilized the official course roster from StudentAdmin of WolverineAccess. Individuals who are acting in an official capacity should be added to the course roster as this will grant access to the course roster and give ability to schedule exams. Accommodate will list up to six individuals for any course, starting with the primary instructor then based on the ’contact minutes’ value associated with the individual for the course, in a descending fashion. SAAS Scholarships The Jesse Ridley Foundation Scholarship application period is open until May 31. The general scholarship open application period will open again in Fall 2024. Disability Funding application submissions and review are ongoing, with a pause every fourth month.
